I've been in to games since I was a small boy, but bla bla bla (fill in later)
The Saboteur
JurassicJunkie

You play as the character Sean Devlin a stereotypical irishman who loves his booze as much as he likes a good fight. Sean is a racecar mechanic who is in paris for the 1940 Grand Prix. With it being set in 1940 means Paris is occupied by the evil German Nazi’s. Sean is cheated out of first place my a Nazi General Kurt Dierker and the hot headed Irish lad and his best friend Jules set off to seek revenge on Kurt by taking his race car for a little swim. You are quickly caught and both are interrogation by Kurt who believes you to be British Spy’s. Sean breaks out of the nazi fortress but sadly Jules is not so lucky. This then sets up the game nicely as you try to seek revenge or Kurt, but causing a trail of destruction along the way. The game is an open world sandbox that feels a lot like Grand Theft Auto meets Assassins creed. You have many story quests to do along with side characters stories and over a 1000 interactive items on the map such as AA guns, Guard Posts and Sniper nests to blow up, with each one earning you “Contraband” that you can spend on weapons and upgrades at the black market dealers. The game starts off in black and white and set the mood perfectly, as you progress through the campaign and lead the French Resistance, parts of the map that have slipper out of control of the germans start to flourish with colour. There is something beautiful about driving around the gorgeous looking sunny countryside, but turning a corner into Nazi occupied territory and having the colour and life sucked away and to be replace with a dark palette and gray clouds. The gameplay has to be one of the most fun sandboxes I’ve played. Everything in the game allows you to climb which you can use to escape chasing troops or simply used to take out a target without alerting any guards. The characters and dialog are great and some of Sean’s one liners are just brilliant. This game can be completed in around 15 hours but can be dragged out to 40 hours easily. The only bad thing I can say about this game is you spend the whole game doing some quite challenging missions to only have the last mission given to you on a plate. But that aside I give Saboteur a solid 9 out of 10
